Our Activities

The activities of this organization is focused on the welfare of society and people of Kolkata from the beginning of our journey. It is the hard work of our members which has reflected in every aspect of our projects.

Agriculture Program on Paddy Research

The program aimed at improving the yielding capacity and quality of indigenous rice varieties. We are implementing this program in the South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal. Through this program, the latest agriculture technique has been transmitted to the farmers through training.

Save Our Rice

For this campaign, paddy diversity blocks have been established in 2 districts. Farmers are now able to overcome the dependency on the seed market. By establishing a biodiversity block and seed bank it is possible to enable farmers to pull themselves off the government welfare system. Even in the most degraded areas, farmers do not need to rely on genetically modified seeds or multinational corporations to feed themselves.

Training on Ecological Farming

Ecological traditional agriculture training was provided to the farmers because it improved the fertility of the soil. This training and awareness encouraged the farmers to involve mixed cropping in the farmers’ field, so increased the diversity of crops and farmers realized that it is economically viable.

Food Festival

This festival is being organized by the organization under the save our Rice campaign to encourage the farmers for their better cultivation where their products are cooked and exhibited and prizes are given to the respective best farmers for their exemplified product. In this festival, agricultural products are also sold and villagers from outside come to this festival to enjoy and to have exposure to better farming for the best products. This also provides information and technical know-how about better farming with an organic cultivation method.

Library

The organization has been running a library where the students, adult education learners, and community members are taking the privilege to read the books according to their interests. The students are using the library for their studies in silence and take notes for their progress. Newspapers are also kept for reading..
